CD – Pharmacological Approach for Mental Health Conditions (2014)
This lecture will begin with a summary of current Pharmaceutical trends in the treatment of Mental Disorder (including an overview of Top CNS Prescribed drugs in Canada) and the disconnect between reliability of DSM derived diagnosis of Mental disease and chronic pharmaceutical treatment. Current treatment areas of depression and anxiety will be explored comparing commonly used drugs and their families. Areas of comparison will include: indications, dosage ranges, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characteristic (mechanisms of action), cautions/ contraindications, adverse reactions and herb/nutrient interactions.
