Outline:

Gut microbiota will be reviewed, as well as in depth immune system dysfunction and the relationship to autoimmune disorders. Specific autoimmune disorders will be discussed such as Type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, celiac disease and inflammatory bowel disorders. This presentation will also discuss how microbiota changes can influence disease and how sex-specific microbiota changes are related to female predominance. Theory around treatment of autoimmune diseases will be reviewed.
